The Solana-based memecoin engine that brought the phrase "anyone can launch a token" into the mainstream is now launching its own.
Pump.fun, known for powering thousands of memecoin deployments on Solana, is gearing up to release its official PUMP token on July 12, according to a live countdown page on the Gate exchange.
The launch will mark another milestone for the platform, which has already generated hundreds of millions in revenue since its debut earlier this year.
Token sale details and distribution plans
Gate.io, the exchange hosting the sale, notes that the token launch will begin on July 12 and last for 72 hours. A total of 150 billion PUMP tokens will be made available during the event at a rate of $0.04 in USDT per token.
This initial batch represents 15% of PUMP's total supply, which is capped at 1 trillion tokens.
The sale will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and according to Gate’s listing FAQ, there’s no cap on the maximum amount a user can buy, just a minimum threshold to meet.
Beyond that, further distribution details are expected to follow, though a Pump.fun representative declined to provide additional information when reached.
The project first gained attention when @zoomerfied posted about the PUMP token’s launch plans on X.
Since then, anticipation has grown as the Solana memecoin scene continues to draw both traders and creators looking to tap into quick liquidity and viral momentum.
From token factory to token launch
Pump.fun made headlines earlier last year by becoming the go-to platform for memecoin creation on Solana.
At its peak in January 2024, the site saw over $7 million in daily revenue, though recent data puts that figure closer to $1 million per day.
Still, the protocol has raked in around $700 million in cumulative revenue to date, making it one of the top-performing crypto platforms by earnings.
With the upcoming PUMP token launch, the team is taking a step into community governance and native utility, though specifics remain to be seen.
