All eyes are on RedStone at the minute as the project’s new CMO, Peter Abilla, has been accused of orchestrating a doxxing campaign and psy-op against the Chainlink community.
Right from infiltrating groups, to mining data, using AI-based geolocation for tracking, and rallying other communities to go after LINK supporters, he set up an ugly smear campaign.
Fishy Catfish, a vocal proponent for Chainlink, chalked out the specifics on Twitter, backing them up with screenshot proofs.
Abilla was a part of FUD cult GCs and often used his position for his own interests.
He tried doxxing Fishy Catfish usign a car picture, connected him to an astronomy background, and subsequently discussed weaponizing “XRP patsies” to go after Chainlink.
He came to the conclusion that Fishy Catfish is a University of Texas astronomy professor with a passion for crypto.
He continued the digging, integrated game theory and psy-op plotting to leverage the FUD cult against the Chainlink community.
RedStone’s response
Marcin Kazmierczak, the co-founder of RedStone said,
“RedStone team are builders, not drama seekers. That's not who we are, and it's not what we stand for.”
With respect to the Chainlink drama, he emphasized that the oracle space needs “healthy competition” that drives progress, “not toxic behavior.” He added,
“… Ultimately, we're all playing to grow the crypto pie. That is what matters long term.”
Furthermore, the team affirmed that the CMO’s values didn’t align with RedStone’s values, and as a result, they mutually agreed to part ways with Abilla.
What CT thinks
TheLinkMarine, a prominent voice within the Chainlink community, opined,
“He tried to dress it up as strategy; a data-driven “competitive move.” In reality, it was an unethical smear and doxxing effort.”
He added,
“This ain't innovation. It’s cowardice disguised as marketing.”
Meanwhile, other community reactions varied from, “men will literally dox competitors community members instead of going to therapy,” to “you've got some balls, i'll give you that,” and “this is embarrassing and there need to be consequences.”
Amidst the backlash, Chainlink community liason, Zach Rynes, tweeted:
The CMO’s apology thread
Abilla started his apology statement by saying, “No AI was used in writing this.” In the comments, when a user pointed out that he smelt AI, Peter replied,
“lol. Fine. I used AI to put my long paragraph into threads with no further modifications. That was my actual prompt. But these are my words 100%.”
Abilla revelated that before joining RedStone, he was associated with a group of “ex-Chainlink people” and “frustrated LINK holders.” He stayed associated with them after joining RedStone.
“I should have been wiser,” he said.
“In that context I crossed a line and participated in behavior that became personal and invasive toward Fishy Catfish. That was wrong. I own it fully. And I'm really sorry.”
