Crypto exchange Bybit is entering the Solana ecosystem with a new decentralized exchange (DEX) called ‘Byreal,’ yes it’s real (pun fully intended), and it’s designed to bring elements of centralized and decentralized finance under one roof.
According to Bybit CEO Ben Zhou, the testnet for Byreal is scheduled to go live on June 30, with the mainnet launch expected later in Q3 2025.
Aiming for CEX-DEX synergy on Solana
Byreal, as described in the official announcement and follow-up posts on X, is not positioning itself as a traditional DEX.
Instead, Zhou stated that the platform is designed to offer what he called “CEX-grade liquidity with DeFi-native transparency,” aiming to blur the lines between centralized exchanges (CEXs) and decentralized protocols.
The platform is being developed with support for RFQ (Request for Quote) and CLMM (Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker) routing. Basically, these features are intended to optimize trading efficiency and user experience.
RFQ mechanisms allow users to get real-time pricing from multiple liquidity providers, while CLMM technology lets liquidity providers allocate funds within a custom price range, effectively deepening liquidity near the current trading price.
Byreal’s launch marks Bybit’s broader strategic shift into on-chain infrastructure, following a broader industry trend where centralized platforms are integrating or developing decentralized components to remain competitive in the web3 space.
Built for speed, designed for transparency
According to Zhou, Byreal is built to provide users with fast, low-slippage, MEV-resistant swaps.
“We’re building the onchain extension of a global exchange,” the team stated in a follow-up post, highlighting the project’s goal to create a trading environment where the speed and liquidity of centralized platforms meet the openness and control of DeFi.
The move also strengthens Solana’s growing role as a hub for high-throughput decentralized finance infrastructure. With platforms like Jupiter, Drift, and now Byreal, Solana’s DEX ecosystem is expanding quickly.
Bybit’s decision to build its next major initiative on Solana signals continued confidence in the chain’s scalability and performance.
