Earlier today, Bitcoin Magazine's executive David Bailey unveiled on X [formerly Twitter] that he and his team are in talks with Kamala Harris’ campaign discussing if she will attend the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville and speak at the event.
In what is the latest development, the presidential contender’s camp revealed that Harris has decided to skip the event.
Had she agreed, Bailey said that it would be “very savvy” of her to reset the democrat positioning on the fastest-growing voter block in the country. Bailey confirmed,
“Kamala Harris will not be speaking at The Bitcoin Conf. No surprise. What can she say to us when she’s actively imprisoning developers, forcing our industry overseas, attacking PoW… it would have been a disaster for her. "
Even though the presidential candidate will not be attending the event, it should be noted that her team has reportedly been reaching out to executives to get their input on crypto policy. Mark Cuban recently said,
“I'm getting multiple questions from her camp about crypto. So I take that as a good sign.”
He added that according to the feedback that he’s been getting, Harris will be “far more open to business, [artificial intelligence], crypto and government as a service.”
However, none of this has been openly endorsed by her camp. Several believe that she could garner support from tech executives if she fosters a pro-tech policy approach, contrasting the current ‘choke point’ approach.
Trump, meanwhile, has given his confirmation that he will be speaking at the event despite his recent fatal accident. Traders expect his speech to instigate positive price action amongst Bitcoin and other crypto assets. The derivative market already hints so, with the rise in the ‘butterfly index’ pointing towards potential volatile market movements unfurling.
Bailey asserted,
“All eyes on Trump now.”
