Truth Social, the social media platform tied to Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), is experimenting with a new user rewards system that could soon include its very own utility token.
The announcement comes alongside beta testing of “Truth+,” a $9.99 monthly subscription package branded as the "Patriot Package," which includes streaming content and access to partner channels.
'Gems' now, tokens later
In a post on Truth Social, the company shared that subscribers to the Patriot Package will begin earning "gems" based on how much they engage with the platform.
These gems, in time, are expected to be linked to a utility token, which would be usable across both the Truth Social and Truth+ platforms.
While details about the token’s structure, name, or blockchain compatibility weren’t disclosed, the initiative appears to be part of a broader loyalty and monetization plan.
The idea of integrating a token-based ecosystem isn’t entirely new for TMTG. In a shareholder letter back in April, the company revealed it was “exploring the introduction of a utility token within a Truth digital wallet.”
That token, the letter explained, could initially cover subscription costs but might eventually expand to support other goods and services within what they describe as the “Truth ecosphere.”
The move would position Truth Social among a growing number of platforms experimenting with crypto or blockchain elements to incentivize user participation.
While it’s unclear when (or if) the utility token will be formally launched, TMTG’s ongoing subscription pilot suggests a rewards-based model may be a key pillar of the platform’s growth strategy.
Subscription meets speculation
The timing of this pilot comes as Truth Social looks to diversify its offerings beyond social media.
By tying streaming content, user activity, and digital rewards together, the platform appears to be angling for deeper user engagement, and potentially setting the stage for a Web3-style product rollout.
As of now, U.S. regulatory details surrounding such a token have not been discussed publicly. But in the meantime, users accumulating gems might want to hold onto them.
They could be worth more than just points on a screen.
