“KaitoFail?” New Rules Ignite War Between Big and Small Creator Accounts

Kaito AI’s latest leaderboard update has set off a spirited debate across the crypto community.

Announced on August 8, 2025, via the platform’s official X account, the changes are said to be aimed at strengthening the quality and reliability of rankings.

However while some see it as a necessary step to improve the ecosystem, others, especially smaller creators, say the move could make it harder for them to grow.

New Rules, Higher Barriers

The update marks the first phase of a larger plan to refine Kaito’s ranking system.

According to Kaito’s announcement, the changes focus on filtering out spam, discouraging artificial engagement tactics, and placing more emphasis on accounts that have built a genuine presence over time.

One notable change is the introduction of a separate section for broader community participation alongside the main creator leaderboard, with tighter reputation requirements.

Replies will no longer contribute to rankings, a shift designed to curb what Kaito referred to as “reply-guy circles,” interaction loops aimed more at boosting stats than at meaningful discussion.

Additional measures include stronger anti-spam systems and filters to flag accounts with purchased followers, paid engagement, or recent creation dates.

Kaito CEO Yu Hu noted in a follow-up post that while the changes may seem simple, they have been complex to implement, and are part of an ongoing process to ensure “real creators” get recognized.

Hu acknowledged the possibility of unintended consequences, such as excluding quality emerging voices, and pledged to adjust the system as feedback comes in.

Pushback from Smaller Creators

The rollout has not gone without pushback. Some users argue that the higher thresholds and removal of reply-based engagement penalize smaller accounts that depend on those interactions to gain visibility.

X user @Telloo55 described the update as “a disaster for small accounts,” adding that the changes feel like they benefit established voices over newcomers.

Language inclusivity has also emerged as a concern. @Mr_CryptoYT pointed out that Kaito still does not detect Arabic content, despite repeated requests for broader language support. This, critics argue, could limit opportunities for non-English-speaking creators to compete fairly in the rankings.

The update reflects a wider challenge faced by social and content-ranking platforms: balancing quality control with accessibility. While Kaito’s new system seeks to reduce noise and reward authenticity, it also risks sidelining the very grassroots creators that have helped build its community.

As Hu reiterated, the current update is just the beginning of a longer-term roadmap. The company will likely need to walk a fine line between tightening standards and ensuring the platform remains open to diverse, emerging voices in the crypto space.
